Meet Our Educators
Award-winning choreographer and founder/artistic director of Show Tyme Academy, Christine Kowalchik holds BA degrees in both Acting and Dance Choreography from Muhlenberg College.
Born in New York state, but raised primarily in Maine, Christine classically trained in the Balanchine Technique, jazz, tap and modern, at the Maine State School for the Performing Arts and Maine State Ballet. During her college career she was part of an improvisational dance company, “6Meters” and choreographed for and performed in multiple main stage productions. After college Christine enjoyed studying and choreographing on three continents, including her personal favorite: Africa. Locally Christine has choreographed MCT’s productions of Willy Wonka, Shrek! The Musical, A Christmas Story, Mamma Mia, “Elf” the Musical, and Performing Arts Camp as well as Frenchtown High School’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Her choreography has been recognized nationally both on screen and stage as choreographer for “My Grandpa’s Fiddle” which earned a Telley Award in 2018, and has earned Platinum awards at New York City Dance Alliance’s Nationals. Christine’s students have gone on to attend prestigious summer intensives, private schools, and BFA programs, we well as earned top adjudications at serval different conventions and competitions around the United States.
Studio & Marketing Director/Acting Instructor
Born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Southern California, Alex has been performing most of his life. After acting in over twenty stage productions, he shifted his focus towards Theatre Education. In 2012, after graduating from Southern Illinois University with a BA in Theatre-Performance, he joined the Missoula Children’s Theater as a Touring Actor/Director. He spent the next three and a half years traveling the world, teaching and performing with over 6,000 kids in seven countries. The Missoula Children’s Theater convinced Alex to settle in Missoula, as well, where he continues to act and teach.
Lisa Brucker is thrilled to join the Show Tyme family as Assistant Company Director and instructor for Contemporary 5. She comes to Show Tyme with over 30 years of dance instruction, choreography, and leadership experience from all over the United States.
Annika is thrilled to be continuing her career here at Show Tyme Academy, in her 4th year teaching with us! After graduating with a BA in Communication Studies, two minors in Dance Education and Business Administration, and an Entertainment Management Certificate from the University of Montana, Annika has jumped into her newest position here at the studio as the Office Manager/Community Outreach Coordinator. In the classroom, you can catch her teaching jazz, contemporary, and private lessons. When not at the dance studio, Annika works as the coach of the Hellgate Dance Team-go Knights! Born and raised in the performing arts community of Missoula, Annika’s life long passion is to continue to spread her love for the arts and performing through her students.
Show Tyme Company & Office Assistant/Instructor
Alice, 18, has been dancing for 7 years. Originally a gymnast, she quickly found herself drawn to dance as a passion she wanted to pursue, so she found herself at Show Tyme! Now in her second year as a Company Elite member and first year member of the S.T.A.G.E. program, Alice looks forward to competing, learning, and teaching this season!
Marie Barnett was trained in the Royal Academy of Dance method, completing Elementary through Advanced levels as well as earning the Royal Academy of Dance teaching certificate. Marie performed classical and contemporary roles while dancing with San Luis Obispo Civic Ballet and Golden State Ballet, both in California. As a choreographer, her works include everything from classical ballet to Broadway musicals. Ms. Barnett served as Owner/Artistic Director of The Ballet Conservatory in Aliso Viejo, CA, for 8 years. Since moving to Missoula in 2005, Marie has enjoyed teaching teaching ballet and pointe at Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre, University of Montana, Ballet Arts Academy and now Show Tyme Academy!!!
Bruno is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Arts & Above; an art maker, performer, and educator based in Missoula, Montana. His work encompasses dance, music, poetry, and film, and has been presented throughout the United States, as well as the Caribbean, Africa and Europe. His professional and artistic work spans 24 years and counting, as he continues creating, performing and educating in communities across the world. Mr. Augusto holds a diploma from Escuela Nacianal de Artes (Havana, Cuba), a BFA from Towson University in dance performance, and a MFA from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU in choreography.
Melissa is an experienced former professional dancer and gymnast who has taught and toured around the world for over 20 years. She is a high energy fun instructor who brings her world wide experience from teaching and learning in places such as Costa Rica, Hawaii, New York and LA.
Grace Nolan, 16, has been dancing for 14 years and teaching for the past four. Her favorite styles of dance include Modern and Ballet and she intends on dancing professionally when she graduates. Grace has spent the past 4 years traveling with Show Tyme’s Elite Company, earning multiple Platinum and high score awards and scholarships for her performances. This past summer, Grace was accepted into the Kansas City Ballet’s 5-week summer intensive program. This season, you’ll catch Grace shining on the Show Tyme stage, dancing in Garden City’s annual “Nutcracker”, or as a part of Missoula’s local dance company: Bare Bait Dance
Elaina is in her 7th year at Show Tyme Academy and her 2nd year as a S.T.A.G.E member. She’s currently a member of the Show Tyme Academy Elite Company, which travels across the country for conventions and competitions, in which she’s logged multiple high scores in years past. Elaina is a founding Show Tyme Company member and is teaching Tiny Dancers, Tiny Ballerinas 2, Ballet 1, Tap 1, Jazz 1, Tap 2, and private lessons in addition to her own classes at Show Tyme. Elaina is so excited for this coming season!
Olivia Farnes has been dancing at Show Tyme for five years, and forging her dance skills since age three. Skilled in nearly any dance style you could ask for, Olivia loves spending time on the dance floor, whether it’s teaching or learning. Her performances have won both regional and national awards, from Los Angeles to New York City.
Ava Tooke is a sophomore in high school and has been dancing for 11 years. She loves to work with kids and wants to inspire younger ballerinas and dancers to find a passion in what they do. Dance has helped her build a community filled with amazing friends and it has opened doors to numerous opportunities and achievements. She hopes your child is ready to get their groove on and ROCK IT on stage!
Kate (she/her/hers) is an experienced professional dancer and choreographer, who now calls Missoula home. She challenges/shares her creative and technical movement approaches with the Show Tyme S.T.A.G.E. Program dancers.
Her choreography has been presented across the United States at venues such as The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, DC) and ZSpace (San Francisco, CA), as well as internationally in Guatemala and Peru. She has been on faculty at CityDance Conservatory, The Washington Ballet, The National Cathedral School and Shawl-Anderson Dance Center. Kate, and her partner Bruno Augusto, Co-Direct Arts & Above, an interdisciplinary performing arts non-profit also based in Missoula.
Her degrees/certifications include a M.F.A. in Performance and Choreography from the State University of New York at Brockport (2004), as well as GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® trainer certificates. She is from Pennsylvania.
Keiana started dancing at the age of 9 and danced throughout California before she came to Show Tyme Academy. She’s currently a second-year member of the Senior Select Company, which travels across the country for conventions and competitions. She has received many high achievements and scholarships over the years. Keiana is also a member of the S.T.A.G.E. Program and is teaching Jazz 3 and Hip-Hop 1/2
Anne Bashor has played piano since the age of five. She received a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy. Anne has a studio of wonderful piano students at Show Tyme Academy and is also an accompanist for Dolce Canto, the University of Montana, and a few Missoula County Public Schools. Anne also spends her summer working with students at the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Anne has performed with a number of chamber groups and performs in multiple recitals every year. In her spare time she loves cooking with her husband, hiking, and reading books on her front yard swing. All of life is further enjoyed with the presence of their pooches, Stewie & Mindy. The dogs both enjoy showing off their singing ability, often matching pitch.
Jacob comes to Show Tyme from Billings, Montana, where he grew up in a world of music and performance. As a longtime Missoula Children’s Theatre kid, he grew up on the stage and loves every minute! He’s currently working on earning his degree from the University of Montana and loves teaching Show Tyme’s Musical Theatre class.
