Meet Our Educators

Christine Kowalchik

Artistic Director/Founder

Award-winning choreographer and founder/artistic director of Show Tyme Academy, Christine Kowalchik holds BA degrees in both Acting and Dance Choreography from Muhlenberg College.

Born in New York state, but raised primarily in Maine, Christine classically trained in the Balanchine Technique, jazz, tap and modern, at the Maine State School for the Performing Arts and Maine State Ballet. During her college career she was part of an improvisational dance company, “6Meters” and choreographed for and performed in multiple main stage productions. After college Christine enjoyed studying and choreographing on three continents, including her personal favorite: Africa. Locally Christine has choreographed MCT’s productions of Willy Wonka, Shrek! The Musical, A Christmas Story, Mamma Mia, “Elf” the Musical, and Performing Arts Camp as well as Frenchtown High School’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Her choreography has been recognized nationally both on screen and stage as choreographer for “My Grandpa’s Fiddle” which earned a Telley Award in 2018, and has earned Platinum awards at New York City Dance Alliance’s Nationals. Christine’s students have gone on to attend prestigious summer intensives, private schools, and BFA programs, as well as earned top adjudications at serval different conventions and competitions around the United States.

 

Alex Kowalchik

Marketing & Facilities

Born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Southern California, Alex has been performing most of his life. After acting in over twenty stage productions, he shifted his focus towards Theatre Education. In 2012, after graduating from Southern Illinois University with a BA in Theatre-Performance, he joined the Missoula Children’s Theater as a Touring Actor/Director. He spent the next three and a half years traveling the world, teaching and performing with over 6,000 kids in seven countries. The Missoula Children’s Theater convinced Alex to settle in Missoula, as well, where he continues to act and teach.

 

Lisa Brucker

Company Assistant/Instructor

Lisa is thrilled to join the Show Tyme family as the Assistant Company Director and instructor for ballet and contemporary classes. A Pennsylvania native, Lisa began her dance career with Erie Civic Ballet, Youngstown Ballet Company and The Pennsylvania Governors School for the Arts.  She attended Mercyhurst University on a scholarship where she earned a BFA in dance and a sociology minor. Ms. Brucker has served as owner/director of the Armstrong Dance Academy for 5 years, where many of her students were accepted into BFA and professional dance programs. She comes to Show Tyme Academy with over 30 years of dance instruction, choreography and leadership experience from all over the United States.

 

Annika Charlson

Studio Manager/Company Assistant

Annika is thrilled to be continuing her career here at Show Tyme Academy, in her 5th year teaching with us! After graduating from the University of Montana in 2020, Annika has continued to utilize her organizational skills within her position as the Studio Manager of Show Tyme. In the classroom, you can catch her teaching jazz, contemporary, pom, and private lessons. When not at the dance studio, Annika works as the coach of the Hellgate Dance Team-go Knights! Born and raised in the performing arts community of Missoula, Annika’s life long passion is to continue to spread her love for the arts and performing through her students.

 

Bruno Augusto

Instructor

Bruno is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Arts & Above; an art maker, performer, and educator based in Missoula, Montana. His work encompasses dance, music, poetry, and film, and has been presented throughout the United States, as well as the Caribbean, Africa and Europe. His professional and artistic work spans 24 years and counting, as he continues creating, performing and educating in communities across the world. Mr. Augusto holds a diploma from Escuela Nacianal de Artes (Havana, Cuba), a BFA from Towson University in dance performance, and a MFA from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU in choreography.

 

 

Marie Barnett

Instructor

Marie Barnett was trained in the Royal Academy of Dance method, completing Elementary through Advanced levels as well as earning the Royal Academy of Dance teaching certificate. Marie performed classical and contemporary roles while dancing with San Luis Obispo Civic Ballet and Golden State Ballet, both in California. As a choreographer, her works include everything from classical ballet to Broadway musicals. Ms. Barnett served as Owner/Artistic Director of The Ballet Conservatory in Aliso Viejo, CA, for 8 years. Since moving to Missoula in 2005, Marie has enjoyed teaching teaching ballet and pointe at Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre, University of Montana, Ballet Arts Academy and now Show Tyme Academy!

 

Melissa Kovics

Instructor

Melissa is an experienced former professional dancer and gymnast who has taught and toured around the world for over 20 years. She is a high energy fun instructor who brings her world wide experience from teaching and learning in places such as Costa Rica, Hawaii, New York and LA.

 

 

Alma Stephens

Instructor

Alma Stephens hails from Golden, Colorado where she began her dance training at the age of three years old. For the past eighteen years, she has studied ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, pom and modern styles. Since beginning college at the University of Montana in 2017, Stephens has spent three seasons as a member of the UM Dance Team and is going into her fourth and final year as a senior. She is currently working towards a degree in Dance and an Entertainment Management Certificate from UM and has taken advantage of every performance opportunity within the notable Department of Theatre and Dance productions such as Studio Works, Dance New Works, Dance On Location, Dance Up Close, Dance in Concert and Dance Underground. Stephens hopes to join the professional industry by applying her education to expand all practices of her art and gain a deeper understanding of the business side of the dance world. She is so excited to join the Show Tyme staff and cannot wait to get started!

 

 

Kate Augusto

Instructor

Kate is a seasoned dancer and choreographer. Originally from Pennsylvania, she now calls Missoula home. Her choreography has been presented across the United States at venues such as The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, DC) and ZSpace (San Francisco, CA), as well as internationally in Guatemala and Peru. She has been on faculty at CityDance Conservatory, The Washington Ballet, The National Cathedral School and Shawl-Anderson Dance Center. Kate, and her partner Bruno Augusto, Co-Direct Arts & Above. She holds a M.F.A. degree in Performance and Choreography from the State University of New York at Brockport, as well as GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® trainer certificates. 

 

 

Jacob Logan

Instructor

 Jacob comes to Show Tyme from Billings, Montana, where he grew up in a world of music and performance. As a longtime Missoula Children’s Theatre kid, he grew up on the stage and loves every minute! He’s currently working on earning his degree from the University of Montana and loves teaching Show Tyme’s Musical Theatre class.

 

 

Keiana Griggs

Instructor

Keiana started dancing at the age of 9 and danced throughout California before she came to Show Tyme Academy.  She’s currently a third-year member of the Senior Select Company, which travels across the country for conventions and competitions.  She has received many high achievements and scholarships over the years. You can find Keiana in the studio teaching jazz, hip hop, and tumbling.

 

 

 

 

 

Elaina Baldwin

Instructor

Elaina is in her 8th year at Show Tyme Academy. She’s currently a member of the Show Tyme Academy Select Company, which travels across the country for conventions and competitions, in which she’s logged multiple high scores in years past. Elaina is a founding Show Tyme Company member and is teaching many tap classes and private lessons in addition to her own classes at Show Tyme. Elaina is so excited for this coming season!

 

 

 

Ava Tooke

Instructor

Ava Tooke is a junior in high school and has been dancing for 12 years. She loves to work with kids and wants to inspire younger ballerinas and dancers to find a passion in what they do. Dance has helped her build a community filled with amazing friends and it has opened doors to numerous opportunities and achievements. She hopes your child is ready to get their groove on and ROCK IT on stage!

 

 

 

 

 

Olivia Farnes

Instructor

Olivia Farnes has been dancing at Show Tyme for six years, and forging her dance skills since age three. Skilled in nearly any dance style you could ask for, Olivia loves spending time on the dance floor, whether it’s teaching or learning. Her performances have won both regional and national awards, from Los Angeles to New York City.

 

 

 

 

Anne Bashor

Piano Instructor

Anne Bashor has played piano since the age of five. She received a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy. Anne has a studio of wonderful piano students at Show Tyme Academy and is also an accompanist for Dolce Canto, the University of Montana, and a few Missoula County Public Schools. Anne also spends her summer working with students at the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Anne has performed with a number of chamber groups and performs in multiple recitals every year. In her spare time she loves cooking with her husband, hiking, and reading books on her front yard swing. All of life is further enjoyed with the presence of their pooches, Stewie & Mindy. The dogs both enjoy showing off their singing ability, often matching pitch.

Angela Dailey

Voice Instructor

Mezzo Soprano, Angela Joy Dailey, is a Missoula resident and alumni of the University of Montana. She holds a Bachelor’s in vocal performance and a Master’s in vocal/opera studies from The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester UK. She is an active vocal teacher and adjudicator in the Missoula community and beyond. Upon returning from the UK she had the honor of representing Montana as a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in Seattle. Standout roles include, Suzuki in RNCM’s Madama Butterfly, Dorabella in East Bay Aria Club’s Cosi Fan Tutte, and the Mother in Montana Lyric Opera’s Amahl and the Night Visitor’s. She has been a soloist with the Missoula, Helena, and Glacier symphonies and spent many years singing with Missoula’s Dolce Canto. She had the privilege of serving on the board of directors for the International Choral Festival from 2010-2016. She is also a member of the very active Americana band, Wolf and the Moons, and holds a full time position as mama to a four year old son and two year old daughter.

Beginning/Intermediate Level Instructors

Missoula, MT - Show Tyme Academy is seeking qualified applicants to fill their beginning/intermediate dance instructor positions & join a nationally recognized performing arts team in beautiful big sky country

QUALIFICATIONS:
• (Completed or in-progress) Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
• Basic knowledge in jazz, contemporary/modern, ballet, tap, and/or hip-hop technique;
• Strong communication skills;
• Demonstrates skills in supporting, motivating, and cooperating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators;
• Knowledge/experience of dance terminology, technique, and general world;
• Must demonstrate ability to develop varying styles of successful dance instruction & be able to maintain positive authority within a classroom/dance studio setting;
• Successful teaching AND/OR performing experience in dance
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Qualified applicant will lead & instruct classes in various dance styles for Show Tyme Academy, a Missoula-based performing arts studio; choreograph/develop recital performance pieces at least 1x per year; select appropriate costume(s) for class(es); other dance/performance-related duties as assigned.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary period of 60 days (September & October 2021), which, after successfully completing, will result in a 7-month contract, with potential for summer contract, as well.
 
COMPENSATION:
Hourly, negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Advanced Tumbling/Acrobatics Instructors

Missoula, MT - Show Tyme Academy is seeking qualified applicants to fill their advanced tumbling/acrobatics instructor position & join a nationally recognized performing arts team in beautiful big sky country

QUALIFICATIONS:
• (Completed or in-progress) Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
• Extensive knowledge in tumbling, gymnastics, acrobatics. Knowledge of dance technique is a plus;
• Strong communication skills;
• Demonstrates skills in supporting, motivating, and cooperating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators;
• Knowledge/experience of dance terminology, technique, and general world;
• Must demonstrate ability to develop varying styles of successful tumbling instruction & be able to maintain positive authority within a classroom/dance studio setting;
• Successful teaching AND/OR performing experience in gymnastics.

Front Office Assistants

Missoula, MT - Show Tyme Academy is seeking qualified applicants to fill their front office assistant positions & join a nationally recognized performing arts team in beautiful big sky country

QUALIFICATIONS:
• (Completed or in-progress) Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
Knowledge of/experience in customer service;
Strong communication skills, verbal and written;
Basic/intermediate knowledge in computer skills;
Demonstrates skills in supporting, motivating, and cooperating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators;
Basic knowledge/interest in dance, performance, or the entertainment business (preferred but not required)
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Qualified applicants will assist the studio manager in daily tasks for Show Tyme Academy, a Missoula-based performing arts center; work the front desk during operation hours assisting customers, answering questions, and solving problems; work front of house at shows/performances put on by Show Tyme Academy; other assistant/office-related duties as assigned.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary period of 60 days (September & October 2021), which, after successfully completing, will result in a 7-month contract, with potential for summer contract, as well.
 
COMPENSATION:
Hourly, negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
